Original cloth doll pattern designed by Paula Casey McGee
Doll Size: This pattern for Captain Spiny Copperbottom, contains instructions for a gnarly little pumpkin character. 5 inch tall sitting cloth doll. Pattern for hat included. template for face included.
Skill Level: All skill levels can learn from this pattern. But everyone will love making this little skallywagg, it's easier than it looks and so much can be done differently through your embellishments.

Materials:
(This pattern uses NON-STRETCH fabrics and all pieces use less than ¼ yard for each color. Even small scraps of fabrics will work for this pattern! Yardage based on 44 inch fabrics.)
*Pumpkin Body – orange cotton fabric (options are you may use any color you wish to craft your pumpkin)
*Arms & Legs – stripe print cotton fabric
*Mouth – felt – brown or black
*Embroidery Thread to match mouth
*Pumpkin Bottom – cotton fabric print to match stripe
*For the Hat: Felt - a 9 x 12 inch piece is plenty
Paper – fancy textured paper for the under-brim
Gimp Braid Trim – ½ inch to ¾ inch wide
Metal suit buttons – 3 large buttons, gold or silver, to make a pirates hat worthy of envy and scorn!
*Lace or Ribbon for Neck Ruffle – ½ inch wide white hem tape or ribbon
*Face – black or dark brown felt & embroidery floss to match
*Embellishments – seed beads, cube beads, vintage buttons, metal gears & clock hands,
*For the Hook Hand: Cup Hook – a metal antique brass, gold, or silver cup hook.
Large bead Cap, metal filigree approximately 5/8th’s to 1 inch diameter with a hole large enough to screw the cup hook into.
*Wire – white chenille stems (I use the precut 18 inch length packages, or pipe cleaners for hand
Floral wire – 18 gauge – for legs (may use the cloth covered or not)
*stuffing, needle, thread, sewing machine, sharp scissors, 5 1/2 inch hemostats for turning and stuffing are very helpful, stuffing forks,
